Processing

The common natural stone surface finishing ways

2009-10-26 by LeiYi Trading

Polished:

The surface is very smooth, highly polished, spectacular effect and high-lustre. Granite, marble and limestone are typically be polished, and they are required different maintenance to retain its lustre.

Smoothed:(Honed 500#)

Smooth surface, but the low degree of polish, have diffuse reflection, no lustre, does not have spectacular effect, no light pollution.

Rough-Rubbing: (Honed 200#)

Just simplified honing to remove away the sawn marks which was occured during cutting slabs, but the colour unchanged with smooth level and no shining on the surface.

Sawn:(Machine-Cut)

Cut to size which was directly cut by the circular saws or bridge cutting machine, relatively rough surface with obvious sawn machine marks.

Bushhammered:

Surface is rough and rugged, with a chisel made a thick dotted holes on the surface. Have an effect to imitate drop water drops on the stone years and years ,just like the Lichee epidermis.

Picked:

More rough surface than bushhammered, just like the pineapple epidermis.

Longan:(Chiselled)

Used an axe hit on the stone surface, then formd a very intensive strip texture, some looks like the effect of longan epidermis.

Flamed:

Rough surface. This surface is mainly used for indoor as floor or for commercial buildings facing. Rapid cooling after high temperature flaming, then form flamed surface. The flamed surface in general is used for the granite.

Natural(Nature Split):

Commonly known as natural face, the surface is rough, but not rough as flamed. This kind of surface treatment is usually split by hand or in mines to reveal the cracking surface of nature stone.

Tumbled:

The surface is smooth or slightly rough, corner is broken as round and smooth.

Sandblasted:

Using sand or steel sand to instead of high- presure water jet treatment which was shot on the slabs surface to form a flat fine granular effective facing.

Grooved:

Made the grooves on the stone surface with a certain depth and width.

Nature Grooved:

Made the grooves on the stone surface with a certain depth and width, then broken off the protuberant surface by manual work.

Mushroom:

Normally by hand chisel split, the effect is similar to the natural split, but the stone surface is protuberant in the middle, which looks like the shape of mushroom.

Brushed:(Antique)

Antique surface. The treatment is to wash and brush the stone surface, to imitate the abrasive effect of natural stone.

The processing is to imitate the effect of the stone be used in a certain number of years old which are generally abrasive brush with antique brush or antique water to deal with, and such effect is generally more cost-effective and more environmentally.

(Flamed+ Brushed):First flamed then brushed processing.

(Bushhammered + Brushed):First bushhammered then brushed processing.

(Longan + Brushed):First Longan then brushed processing.

(Sandblast + Brushed0:First Sandblast then brushed processing.

Water-jet:

Use High-pressure water to shoot the stone surface directly, stripping the soft texture of the composition, forming a unique decorative effect of the slab surface.

(Flamed + water-jet ):First flamed then water-jet processing.

(Bushhammered + water-jet):First bushhammered then water-jet processing.

(Longan + water-jet):First longan then water-jet processing.

(Sandblast + water-jet):First Sandblast then water-jet processing.
